About Us

The Jakobowski's began serving the legal profession in 1943 when Mr. Jakobowski's father, Frank M. Jakobowski, served both as a prosecutor and defense counsel on the Courts Martial Board with the United States Marine Corps. Then, upon his discharge as a commissioned officer following military service in the Korean War, Frank M. Jakobowski worked as a claims adjuster for Keystone Insurance Company in their Philadelphia office. In 1953 he accepted an associate position in the litigation department of the Philadelphia law firm of White & Williams doing defense work. In 1963, after ten years working in a large firm environment, Frank M. Jakobowski decided to move to private practice, while remaining in center city Philadelphia, to continue his representation of insurance companies in both defense and subrogation cases.

Frank M. Jakobowski remained a solo practitioner until 1987, when his son, W. James Jakobowski, graduated Widener University School of Law and joined his defense practice. While State Farm Insurance remained the firm's primary client through the 1990's, the firm's practice grew to encompass a more diversified litigation practice, including the representation of individuals injured in motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, encounters with defective products, and those having worker's compensation claims. The firm also expanded it's range of services to address the evolving needs of their clients business and estate planning, such as forming partnerships and corporations, drawing wills and handling probate matters. Mr. Jakobowski's father continued to practice until his death in 1999. W. James Jakobowski has continued the fine traditions learned practicing alongside his father as a mentor, and the firm continues to provide superior legal services to the individuals, families and businesses who have remained an integral part of the Jakobowski legal practice over the decades.

Mr. Jakobowski's practice continues to grow and in 2002 he joined with Dante S. Sarubbi to form the partnership of Sarubbi & Jakobowski whose office is in Audubon, New Jersey. Mr. Sarubbi brings a wealth of experience to the New Jersey practice as a former municipal court judge and assistant county counsel. The New Jersey office is centrally located across the Delaware River from Philadelphia in Camden County, minutes from Camden, Haddonfield and Cherry Hill.

The Law Offices of W. James Jakobowski continue a tradition started by Mr. Jakobowski's father, Frank M. Jakobowski, Esq. (1920 - 1999), who opened a law office in Philadelphia in 1963 to provide superior legal services to individuals, families and businesses in the Delaware Valley and Tri-State region.
